Make useful things. Become someone you trust.

Ian Williams working with wood in a natural setting

I have a passion for learning across various subjects. I'd rather be a jack of all trades than a master of one, as it provides a broader perspective. I seek wisdom, not just education, recognizing it takes more than a lifetime to attain. I enjoy listening to others' stories and gaining their insights to enrich my own. I have a strong appreciation for woodworking and the ability to construct functional items independently. Woodworking has been a tradition within my family, instilling the belief that furniture should be handcrafted. Like many individuals, I derive great enjoyment from spending time in nature. Being surrounded by rocks and trees instills a sense of tranquility within me. I have numerous mature trees that I take pleasure in maintaining, along with my lawn and landscaping.

The compass

WIN means more than winning.

Wisdom

Learn deeply, think clearly, act intentionally.

Integrity

Do the right thing even when unseen.

Nobility

Build things that elevate people and communities.

How WIN shows up

The philosophy lives in the details.

Woodworking

01

Precision, honesty in materials, and long-term craftsmanship. Build slowly enough to understand the work, and well enough that it can keep serving someone.

Fitness

02

Discipline, consistency, and pushing limits without ego. Training is a promise kept over time, not a performance for one impressive day.

Business

03

Empowering friends, customers, and the community. Good business makes useful things easier to access and gives other people room to grow.

Content

04

Teaching, storytelling, and transparency. Share the useful parts of the process so the work can travel further than the finished object.

Family

05

Modeling strength, curiosity, and resilience. The standard is not perfection; it is showing up with enough honesty to keep learning together.

The long view

A life built one honest repetition at a time.

The goals are concrete because the philosophy is practical. Make the shop. Improve the skill. Serve people well enough that they return. Build an audience that trusts the work. Train the body to carry the life.

  • Build a 24×30 woodworking shop.
  • Reach professional furniture-building skill.
  • Develop a repeat customer base.
  • Grow a 1,000-person audience.
  • Train toward Ironman-level endurance.
